History

Olivares de Rocha is born in the main Uruguayan olive-growing basin, in the southeast region of the country. The agro-climatic conditions favor the development of plantations that are part of some of the best olive groves of the New World.

The area with the greatest olive-influence includes the departments of Maldonado, Rocha and Treinta y Tres (85% of the olive cultivation of the country is concentrated here), where the plantations receive the ocean winds that regulate thermal variations -summers are not too hot, winters are not too cold- and give agronomic stability to the crop.

Our olive groves are located next to the first Wind Farm of Uruguay and they are part of modern production concepts that combine intensive cultivation and state-of-the-art technologies.

Every autumn, along the 3,500 hectares planted, the olives of varieties from Italy, Spain, France, Israel and Argentina such as arbequina, coratina, barnea, picual, frantoio, leccino, farga and manzanilla, are harvested. They are carefully selected to highlight the flavor of everyday meals and be a healthy and nutritious food.

The olives are processed in our great mill, the largest in Uruguay and one of the largest in Latin America. The plant has three extraction lines: one of 3,000 k / hour, another of 5,000 k / hour and a third of 9,000 k / hour, which makes the total processing capacity of 17 tons per hour.

The plant’s cutting-edge industrial infrastructure enables a highly cost-competitive product. Our high quality extra virgin oil is exported to Brazil, Argentina and Europe. Now, it’s mission is to conquer the palates of all Uruguayans and become the choice when cooking and seasoning each dish.

Olivares de Rocha is a brand of the Uruguayan agro-industrial company Nuevo Manantial S.A., founded in 2007. It has more than 23,300 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of olive trees, afforestation, beekeeping, livestock and an important project of alternative energy.

We are a company committed to the environment, and because of that, we produce the electrical energy we consume in the first Wind Farm of Uruguay.

We are also involved in supporting small producers located in the nearby areas through the provision of third-party crop processing and technical support services.

The Olivares de Rocha plantations are distributed in the towns of Velázquez and Castillos in the department of Rocha, and on Route 17 near the city of Treinta y Tres. Our mill is located at kilometer 241 of Route 9, in the Loma Alta establishment.
